Photography to me is much like capturing a firefly! As a mom it is so very clear to me that each week, each month and year is overflowing with “firefly moments”. The sweet stillness of a newborn asleep in your arms, all of the “firsts” (first tooth, the first Christmas, the first birthday, first day of school) and the yearly occassions (every birthday, each first day of school, each Christmas…) as well as the phases our children go through (gummy grins, toothless grins) and the various passions that make them who they are. One year it is a different passion or evolving interests. Our memories of all these seasons with our kiddos often start to fade. My goal as a photographer is to capture these special moments with our children and those we love.
My Unique Approach:
To call myself simply a photographer is limiting because I am more than that -- instead I would call myself a creative encourager! As a creative encourager, I can dream from the perspective of someone who wants to use my photography to encourage, breathe life to others and bring glory to God in the process. It gives freedom to clients to ask for something out of the box!
I love photos of my own sweet boy with a big grin looking at the camera, but asking for a big smile while looking at the camera is not the only kind of photo I long to take. There is so much more behind every smile… there is a unique and incredible soulful personality to be captured. I definitely value simplicity in photos and delight in photographing candid, sweet moments. But, I also am excited about creating unique sessions that are focused on speaking life to those you love in a creative way.
I value relationships. So part of what I am dreaming about is something I will call “Friendship Photo Sessions”. There are many possibilities and there is not a limit to what this would look like. It could be a lemonade or cupcake stand with friends, children painting together, boys painting themselves to be warriors, a father painting his son in a warrior like fashion or his daughter like a princess warrior, powder paint war with friends/family or friends because God is a fun and colorful god… or photographing you and your child/children creating a crystal snowflake (and using that time to speak life to them).
There are many ideas I can’t wait to put into motion! I look forward to helping you create a session that captures your child or proclaims to them through photos what you see in them and love about them. I want to join with you to create a photo session for your child, a unique senior session for your teen, take photos of your pets or to shadow you and your family/friends as you do something beautiful and out of the ordinary to bring light to our world.
